Project Brief
Yakinori, a Japanese restaurant in Solihull, required an effective ventilation solution for its open kitchen, where noodle and sushi preparation takes place in full view of diners. Located within a busy shopping centre, the project needed to address planning concerns surrounding cooking odours and fire safety, while maintaining a comfortable environment for customers and neighbouring businesses.
The Solution
During the design phase, Corsair carried out DEFRA-compliant risk assessments to evaluate the potential impact of cooking odours and grease-laden air on both the building and the surrounding environment.
To address these challenges, the system was designed around the Vortex-GDS, a three stage UV-C filtration solution that helps control odours, reduce grease build-up and lower fire risk.

This approach also helps minimise maintenance requirements and long term operating costs.

The installation was completed with balanced supply air, induction jet technology, an Ansul fire suppression system and energy efficient LED lighting.
