Project Brief

Daresbury Laboratory is internationally recognised for its scientific research across a wide range of disciplines.

As part of the new Glass House restaurant, its commercial kitchen required a high performance ventilation system that would provide a clean, comfortable working environment while meeting the demands of a busy catering operation. The project also needed integrated services and automatic fire protection, all within a hygienic and easy-to-maintain design.

 

The Solution

Corsair supplied and installed a Vortex Airstream canopy featuring integrated supply air and induction technology to improve ventilation performance throughout the kitchen.

Perforated supply diffusers with disposable G4 filter media return fresh air at a low velocity, helping to avoid uncomfortable draughts. Induction slots improve air capture and help contain cooking fumes within the canopy.

A service distribution unit neatly houses utilities for the cooking equipment, creating a clean and hygienic workspace. Extra wide risers were included to accommodate electrical distribution boards. Quick release access panels make future servicing and maintenance simple.

The installation was completed with low energy recessed LED lighting and an ANSUL fire suppression system, providing automatic protection for each individual cooking risk.
