Plants by DE, the restaurant from Deliciously Ella, opened in Mayfair, London with its kitchen located in the basement.
The basement location created several design challenges. Limited headroom, low hanging beams and restricted space made it difficult to install a traditional kitchen ventilation system. The extract ductwork also had to fit within a very tight area.
The restaurant’s open kitchen is also visible to diners, so it needed to feature a clean, modern appearance.
The Solution
Corsair designed a bespoke ventilation canopy to make the most of the limited space. The canopy was built to fit beneath the low ceiling and around the structural beams above the cooking line, without affecting its performance.
With very little room for ductwork, a custom solution was needed. Centrally positioned triangular baffle grease filter housings allowed the extract ductwork to be connected efficiently while keeping the canopy compact and maintaining effective extraction.
The finished installation also includes recessed low-energy LED lighting for clear, efficient illumination. An integrated ANSUL fire suppression system provides automatic protection for each cooking appliance, helping to improve safety across the kitchen.
