Kitchen Supply Air Module
The Vortex Pod kitchen supply air module from Corsair Engineering provides a practical way to introduce replacement air into commercial kitchens. Designed as a self-contained unit, it can be retrofitted to existing kitchens with minimal disruption and is particularly useful where a dedicated supply air system was not included in the original ventilation design.

What Is a Kitchen Supply Air Module?
A kitchen supply air module brings fresh air from outside into a commercial kitchen. This replaces the air that is continually being removed by the kitchen’s extraction system.
Without enough replacement air, a powerful extraction system can remove more air than is naturally entering the room. This can create uncomfortable draughts, make doors harder to open and affect how well the ventilation system works.
The Vortex Pod provides a controlled way of bringing this replacement air into the kitchen. It draws in outside air, filters it and then distributes it into the room, with the amount of incoming air adjusted using the built-in fan speed controller.

Integral Fan and Speed Controller
Each unit includes an integral single-phase axial fan to draw replacement air into the kitchen.
A fan speed controller is also included, allowing the incoming air volume to be adjusted according to the requirements of the kitchen and its ventilation system.
External Weather Cowl and Grille
Externally, the Vortex Pod features an intake weather cowl and egg crate grille.
These components provide a suitable external air intake while helping to protect the opening from the weather and larger airborne debris.
Two-Stage Filtration
The Vortex Pod uses two stages of filtration.
Primary filtration is provided by an integral filter cartridge. A second stage of disposable filter media is fitted within the internal stainless steel diffuser.
This additional filter media is easy to access and replace as part of routine maintenance.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is replacement air important in a commercial kitchen?
Providing controlled replacement air can help:
- Support effective kitchen extraction
- Reduce excessive negative pressure
- Introduce filtered outside air
- Create more controlled airflow through the kitchen
- Support a more comfortable working environment
- Meet commercial kitchen ventilation requirements
Does the Vortex Pod conform to DW172?
Yes. The Vortex Pod is designed to provide the replacement air required as part of a commercial kitchen ventilation system and conforms to DW172 requirements.
How much air can a Vortex Pod supply?
Each Vortex Pod can handle an airflow of up to 1.2m³/s against a resistance of 150 Pascals. Put simply, this means the unit can introduce a substantial volume of replacement air.
Will the Vortex Pod take up much kitchen space?
The Vortex Pod has been designed with a slimline profile. The unit does not significantly project into the kitchen, helping to keep walls and working areas clear.
